The Ins And Outs of How We Do Business

Frequently asked questions

Do you set rates or prices?

Nope! Our services truly are 100% pay-what-you-want. We simply ask that you pay our Helpers an amount that you feel is fair after they complete the job. For those in need, we'll happily complete work at no cost whatsoever.

My personal financial situation makes it difficult for me to afford paying for the services you offer. Can I still request services?

Absolutely. We will never turn down a service request solely due to an inability to pay. Choose-what-you-pay also means pay-what-you-can. For some, that is nothing. We understand, and will still perform high-caliber work at a reduced cost or no cost whatsoever. Please note, however, that we must be reimbursed for all costs. For example, if you ask us to purchase $60 worth of groceries, we must be reimbursed in full for that $60.

What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, checks made out to "Hopewell Helpers LLC", Venmo to @hopewellhelpers, and credit cards.

Booking a Job

Do I need to provide any of the tools, equipment, or products for my job?

After you submit a job request, we will confirm the details of the request with you over the phone. This includes discussing any extra materials that may be needed. We generally ask that you provide equipment for specialized tasks (ie. lawnmower, cleaning products, etc) if we do not have it on hand. If you do not own a tool or product needed for a job, we may be able to purchase it on your behalf for use in completing your job.

What is your cancellation policy?

We get it - things happen, and jobs need to be cancelled. Just give us a call at ‪(609) 474-4401‬! There is no fee or charge for cancellations.

Why did you decline my job request?

The students on our team have their own obligations that they must take care of. While we make our best effort to accomodate every request, we may need to delay or decline requests if we lack the time or manpower to complete them. Additionally, jobs may be declined because they pose health risks. We will always do our best to help out with what you need, but we reserve the right to decline jobs for any reason.

I need something done that's not listed on your site. Can you do it?

We are happy to perform most jobs that are safe and feasible. If you are unsure if we perform a job, just give us a call or shoot us an email.

Do you serve areas outside of Hopewell Valley?

Absolutely! We serve Mercer County, Hunterdon County, and Bucks County plus additional locations by request. We will typically be happy to drive upwards of 25 minutes. We are happy to travel farther for larger jobs. Please reach out if you are unsure if we serve your location!

What are your policies regarding COVID-19?

The safety of our community and our team is of the utmost importance to us. We will wear masks and proper PPE at all times when interacting in-person, as well as adhere to social distancing guidelines. Employees are required to wear mask whenever inside, as well as whenever outside when social distancing is not possible. We may decline jobs that pose a health risk.

Is this affiliated with any organization or school in Hopewell Valley?

Nope! We are current and former students of Hopewell Valley Central High School who currently live in the Hopewell-Pennington area, but we are not affiliated with any school or organization.

I've got some more questions. How can I contact you?

Shoot us an email at info@hopewellhelpers.com, or you can give us a call at ‪(609) 474-4401‬.

I'd like to join your team. How can I do that?

Please email info@hopewellhelpers.com or call ‪(609) 474-4401‬ to inquire about joining our team. You must be at least 17 years old and able to provide your own transportation.

Is there a distinction between "service" and "job"?

We classify what we do into a number of "service" categories: for example, grocery delivery, driving, and tutoring. When you book a service, we refer to the inherently unique nature of the booking as a "job". More broadly, "service" defines a broad category that many unique, individual "jobs" fit into.
